Deus Primum

Hello hello friends!

Lindsay here with a new blog haha, still laughing that I have started a blog, but if my posts can be a blessing to even one person then my mission is complete. Today I am going to share with you my new adventure I have been on. So here we go.

Three weeks ago I walked into a Martial Arts Gym and decided to start something new, something that has been on my heart for at least the past 4 years, but time has not allowed me or people have told me no you cannot do that. But finally I am able to live for me and follow the path God is leading my heart down, do I know why God has placed a Martial Arts skill on my heart no I do not, but that does not mean I am going to walk the other way does it.

So I did it I walked in the gym and I told them I wanted to learn the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu,  now if you have no idea what that is that is completely ok, because I will help you out it is a ground based martial art of grappling with an opponent there are what seem to be a million ways to do BJJ and I have only just began to learn what this sport has to offer. What I do know is this.

I am new to the game, I am not the best at the game, but everyday I get better then I was the day before and that is what counts. My confidence builds, my knowledge expands, the camaraderie with my classmates becomes stronger and in turn a new bond has begun to form.

BJJ is not easy by any means, it is a human chess game, it is not a game of brute strength, but rather of balance and counter movements. One wrong move and you could find yourself in a not so good situation and the same for your opponent. Oh but when you get something correct what a feeling that is, that feeling that your hard work has paid off if only for just a second, but hey a second is better then nothing am I right?

This adventure is only three weeks strong, but it is an adventure that I am truly enjoying. As I said in the beginning I do not know why I found myself here considering I tried Karate as a young girl and did not care for it maybe it was all the Hi-ya’s and such, but who knows, God knows. Whether it to be a role model to kids, just a new skill or something much greater, I am excited to be on the path. A few of my classmates shared with me their motto it is this Deus Primum which means God First. I could not agree more and that is exactly my plan.

Hope you guys enjoyed my little short blog today. God Bless

With Love,

Lindsay 🙂
