What do you See in the Mirror?

When you look in the mirror what do you see?

I ask the question because many of us see the features we don’t like about our bodies, am I right? It doesn’t matter if you are male or female we each look to our mirrors for confirmation of our good looks or in sheer disappointment of what we see.

Nobody likes when someone makes fun of what you look like or what you wear, correct? What makes the difference if you bad mouth your own body or if someone else does it for you. If you cannot love yourself in your own skin how will you ever be able to love the rest of the world? How will you ever move past the negative self image you see in the mirror when you wake up and be able to share your inner personality the “real” you.

9 times out of 10 people see someone who is not dressed in the here and now and they automatically write them off as poor, old school or some other off the wall excuse to make that person the joke of the day. The same thing goes for the gym a person walks into the gym with no sign of a history of working out and automatically at least three people will look at them and laugh. Don’t believe me observe it next time you go to the gym. It is sad, society puts so much emphasis on what the human body should look like or what it should be clothed in that they lose all regard for the personality that lives inside of the body.

This life has become so focused on the skinnier the better or the higher the priced items the better. What ever happen to sitting down with someone and getting to know them.

Wake up look in the mirror and believe that you are beautiful you might have some pounds to lose or muscles to gain, but you are beautiful just the way you are. Find something about yourself that you love, your smile, your eyes, your arms, your legs, your laugh… did you find it? Now everyday make it a goal to say I am beautiful at least once a day, just once I am not asking for every time you stand in front of a mirror, unless you want to then by all means! I guarantee after a few days of this you will see yourself as a little more beautiful then before and when the enemy comes along to tell you otherwise say to yourself I am beautiful.

No one can steal your joy, your beauty, nobody can steal who you are. You are uniquely and 100% you, their is no one like you, sure you might have a twin, but even they have a different personality then you! Don’t let stereotypes and hypes control who you are or who you become, become exactly who you were intended to be a writer, a dancer, a fighter, an astronaut, a businessman or woman, whatever it is do it, be you.

God says in his word in: Psalms 139:14-16

Oh yes, you shaped me first inside, then out; you formed me in my mother’s womb. I thank you, High God—you’re breathtaking! Body and soul, I am marvelously made! I worship in adoration—what a creation! You know me inside and out, you know every bone in my body; You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit, how I was sculpted from nothing into something. Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth; all the stages of my life were spread out before you, The days of my life all prepared before I’d even lived one day.”                                                 Psalms 139:14-16 The Message

You see God created you exactly the man or woman, boy or girl you are today, He knows every hair on your head every enemy who will ever come across your path, everything. Because He created YOU. He loves you no matter what you think you look like, if God can love you even it what you believe are imperfections then why can’t you love yourself the way God does. Take pride in who you are, thank God for the breath you breathe, the songs you sing, the steps you take, the words you speak. Don’t let your clothes and outward appearance define the man or woman of God that is living on the inside. Because that inner man or woman is so much greater then this world will ever know.

Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear— but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious.           1 Peter 3:3-4 (ESV)

God Bless and I hope that this gives hope to someone or even just gives a new look at their life.

With Love,

Lindsay 🙂
